Tidewater Management Group's Make-A-Wish Foundation Fundraising Campaign

Tidewater Management Group started a Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraising campaign to help grant wishes for children with critical illnesses. Our goal was to raise $10,000 in hopes that we can grant a wish for a special child that needs a little sunshine in her or his life. With generous donations from our agents, carriers, and staff, we managed to exceed our goal and raise $10,435!

This cause is near and dear to our hearts. The family of one of our own team members was personally impacted by Make-A-Wish Foundation. After his three-year-old son was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Make-A-Wish Foundation granted his wish to go to Disney World. He had a blast on the roller coasters and visiting every part of the theme park.

Having this trip to look forward to made it easier for his son to deal with chemotherapy and all of its side effects. After witnessing the importance of the trip in his son's life, our team member decided to get involved with the charity so that more kids like his son can have an incredible trip to help them get through all of the difficult aspects of dealing with a critical illness.

What is Make-A-Wish Foundation?

Make-A-Wish Foundation is made up of tens of thousands of volunteers, donors, and supporters that work to grant the wishes of children diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. They strive to honor the difficult journey that the children are going through as well as the courage that they have in the face of adversity by granting thousands of wishes each year.

The wishes that Make-A-Wish Foundation grants have life-changing impacts on the children and their families. A granted wish gives children something to look forward to and makes a positive impact on their physical and emotional wellbeing. It offers children a chance to focus less on their past and more on their future.

According to Dr. James Fahner, the Make-A-Wish medical advisory council chair, "today, more than ever, we know that wishes are part of the healing process. There are medications we can provide. There are treatments we can administer, and yet, there are pieces missing that can only be filled by the impact of a wish experience."

Wish kids are some of the bravest and sweetest kids you'll ever meet. They may wish to work in a pickle factory, become a superhero, go snorkeling, give their baseball team new uniforms, become a ballerina, get a puppy, or go to Disney World. Their innocence and unexpected wisdom stays with you.
