CMS 2026 Medicare Updates: Costs & Premiums

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the Medicare Part A and Part B premiums, deductibles, and coinsurance amounts on November 14, 2025. Part A and Part B premiums, as well as deductibles, are increasing. Here’s what you need to know to stay ahead and keep clients informed.

What’s Changing in 2026 and Why It Matters

CMS has officially released the Medicare costs and premium updates for 2026. As we inch closer to the new year we’re here to help you understand the changes both Part A and B are experiencing. These updates influence budget planning, plan choices, and out-of-pocket costs for millions of your clients.

Medicare Part A: Hospital Cost Changes

Key things to know:

  • Inpatient hospital deductible is rising to $1,736
  • Coinsurance increases for:
    • Days 61-90 to $434 per day
    • Lifetime Reserve Days for $868 per day after 90
    • Skilled Nursing Facility Stay days 21-100 to $217 per day

Medicare Part B: Premium and Deductible Increases

Key things to know:

  • Standard monthly premium is increasing to $202.90
  • Part B annual deductible is rising to $283

Part B Premium Note For Higher Income Earners

Those enrolled in Part B will pay the standard $202.90 per month premium cost. However, note that higher income earners will pay an additional Part B IRMAA in addition to that amount.

Higher income earners who are also enrolled in a Part D Prescription Drug Plan will also pay a Part D IRMAA in addition. Please refer to the Medicare Part B Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amounts on CMS.gov for more information on potential costs for clients in this category.
