What the ManhattanLife DVH plan offers

ManhattanLife’s Dental, Vision & Hearing (DVH) plans are standalone policies with annual maximums of $1,000, $1,500, $3,000, or $5,000 and a $100 per‑person deductible. Preventive and basic dental have no waiting periods, major dental has a 12‑month wait, vision has a 6‑month wait for glasses/contacts, and hearing aids have a 12‑month wait. Plans are guaranteed issue for ages 18–85, allow you to choose any dentist (no network), and offer family rates including up to three children.

Coverage details at a glance

  • Dental: Preventive/basic start at 60% Year 1, moving to 80% Year 3+; major dental pays 0% Year 1, 70% Year 2, 80% Year 3+ (classic DVH).
  • Vision: Exams, refraction, and eyewear covered 60% Year 1 → 80% Year 3+; eyewear has a 6‑month wait.
  • Hearing: Exams have no wait; hearing aids/repairs covered after 12 months at 70% Year 2 → 80% Year 3+.

DVH Select: richer dental and add‑ons

The DVH Select variant lets customers pick dental only, dental + vision, dental + hearing, or all three, with $0 or $100 deductibles, no waiting periods for dental (except orthodontia), and optional network discounts via the Careington PPO while still allowing any dentist. Dental pays 100% in‑network preventive, 65% Year 1 → 80% thereafter for basic, 20% Year 1 → 50% thereafter for major, and includes orthodontia after 12 months up to a $1,500 lifetime max. Vision adds a $200 frames/lenses max and itemized lens allowances; hearing provides up to $750 per ear, per year after waiting periods. Guaranteed issue 18–99.

Why this benefits insurance agents

  • Clear value story: No dental waiting periods (Select), choice of $0/$100 deductibles, and orthodontia differentiators make compelling talking points against other DVH carriers.
  • Broad eligibility: Guaranteed issue across adult ages and family rates simplify enrollments and multi‑life sales.
  • Cross‑sell friendly: Complements Medicare Supplement or high‑deductible medical; can be positioned as an affordable add‑on with immediate preventive dental value.
  • Flexible networks: Market to clients who prefer keeping their own dentist while optionally leveraging Careington discounts to stretch benefits.

Why this benefits customers

  • Predictable costs: Annual maximums up to $5,000 help budget for dental work, eyewear, and hearing aids, with straightforward coinsurance that improves over time.
  • Fast access to care: Immediate coverage for preventive/basic dental and exams reduces delays in routine care; Select removes most dental waits entirely.
  • Keep your providers: No network restrictions means using preferred dentists; Select adds optional PPO discounts without locking into a network.
  • Orthodontia and hearing value: Orthodontia (Select) and structured hearing aid benefits address frequent gaps in medical plans.

Key distinctions and considerations

  • DVH vs. DVH Select: Classic DVH has stronger year‑over‑year dental percentages for major services after waits; Select emphasizes no dental waits, richer preventive coverage in‑network, and orthodontia. Match to client timelines and needs.
  • Waiting periods: Confirm eyewear and hearing aid waiting periods align with upcoming purchases; schedule larger procedures after coinsurance improves.
  • Annual maxima: Vision frames/lenses in Select are capped at $200/year; hearing benefits max $750 per ear/year—plan major purchases accordingly.
